YIT was recognized as the “Finnish Business Leader” in the “Real Estate” nomination based on the study of “The Most Influential Finnish Companies in Russia – 2019”. The annual study, including the compilation of TOP-30 ranking the leading Finnish companies in Russia, was conducted for the fourth time by the St. Petersburg city portal Fontanka.ru.
Study “Finnish Business 2019. In search of growth points.” The Fontanka.ru study was presented in St. Petersburg at an event in the House of Finland. Top officials from Finnish companies, heads of the Consulate General of Finland, the Finnish-Russian Chamber of Commerce and the administration of St. Petersburg took part in the round table “Leaders of Finnish business 2019. In search of growth points”. Following an interesting and meaningful discussion of the current state and prospects for the development of Finnish companies in Russia, the Fontanka.ru portal published the material titled “Finnish business is looking at Russia with cautious optimism. Strike extras out.”
“Finnish companies have long been working in the Russian market, representing almost every sector of the economy. Despite certain challenges and problems, almost all of them believe in the success of their business. Most of them work in the long run and are not going to leave,”said Anna Lammila, Consul General of Finland in St. Petersburg, during the round table. It is worth noting that the study by the Finnish Consulate on the image and brands of Finland among the residents of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region has shown that 95% of the region’s population treats Finland as good or very good, 80% consider Finnish goods and products to be high-quality, while the majority are satisfied with the price/quality ratio.
The authors of the study conducted by the Fontanka.ru portal compiled a rating of the 30 Finnish companies with their largest revenue that keep developing their business in Russia (more than 900 companies with Finnish capital operate in Russia in total). The companies represented in the TOP-30 ranking, which are also key investors among the Finnish business in the Russian market, operate in all key sectors – production, real estate, retail, logistics and distribution, services.
Same as last year, YIT was recognized as the leader in the rating in the Real Estate segment. In addition, YIT took 5th place in terms of revenue among the largest companies in the ranking. YIT is one of the leaders in terms of investment in the Russian economy.
“YIT has been working in Russia for almost 60 years – in two years we will have a big anniversary – and, of course, we do not plan to leave Russia,” said Teemu Helppolainen, CEO of YIT St. Petersburg, head of the “Housing Construction, Russia” segment of YIT Concern. “We will continue to implement residential development projects in St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Kazan and Tyumen. Another priority is further development of activities to provide accommodation services by our YIT Service companies in all regions where YIT is present, including Moscow, Moscow Region and Rostov-on-Don. In St. Petersburg, the key housing market for YIT, even more apartments are under construction now than a year ago. We plan to acquire land in all regions where we are engaged in housing construction, and we hope that by the end of the year we will be able to announce new projects, including those in St. Petersburg proper.”
